Elena has had volleyball try outs this past week after school. She will not know if she will make the team till Tuesday. When I was her age, at my little bitty school, any one could participate in any sport with out trying out. That's how I was able to be on the basketball and track team as a bench warmer. It didn't bother me either because I didn't like to sweat. She will be heart broken, if she doesn't make it because like Scott, she is competitive and athletic.
Back to Thursday. Elena called me sobbing @ 4:30 to come pick her up, (thirty minutes earlier than normal pick up time). The plastic covering had fallen off the fire wall alarm when she accidentally bumped into it. She went to place the covering back on it and it set off the alarm. The coach sent her to the office to notify someone to turn it off. The new assistant principle told Elena she was going to AEP and wouldn't be able to be on the team. Being the respectful student she is, she just accepted it.
Before all this drama, Scott originally was going to pick her up. I called him to tell him not to. Since Ricky was in the vehicle, I didn't want to discuss why. He asked, "Does this have to do with womanly problems?"
Now, I didn't go "ghetto" like my Mom would have "back in the day", (I mean that with lots of love, Mom.) but I was going to get to the bottom of this. I know my child and she would not have done anything to jeopardize not being on the team or her education. After I spoke with the coach, and two other assistant principles it was determined it was an accident and it was not set deliberately. Everything was resolved and Elena does not have AEP and she can still try out.
To be continued........................................... pending try out results. Cross your fingers!!!!
P.S. If you read this, please don't tell Ricky. He'll hold it over Elena head, as siblings do.

I'm with you...the only thing I ever had to try out for was cheerleading. I like it better when kids can do whatever they want.
Fingers crossed here too...I hate waiting for vb results.
Tomorrow the big day??? Hope she makes it. LOVE volleyball.
