Ever since the State flower has been in bloom this year, I have wanted to get the kids photo with them. When I'm on the highway, I will scope out a spot that I think looks perfect. Of course, the kids aren't usually with me or they aren't picture ready. Just my luck................. and lucky for them.
Yesterday, while Scott and I went to Brandon's baseball tournament, Elena, Ricky and Allan stayed with my parents. (They haven't done that in a long while.) My parents took them to the lake for a few hours. Ricky fished with my Dad and my brother, Theo. (He was in heaven!) Allan played with his cousin, Matthew, who he hasn't seen since Christmas.
Elena surprised and impressed me with this photo she took with her phone. I know the kids have expressed to me they think taking pictures in the blue bonnets is cheesy, but it's a Texas thing, though.

Easter 2009
This year Easter was spent with Scott's side of the family. Mike and his family didn't make it this year from San Antonio. As you can see, there are only two little ones.
Elena spent most of her time with the boys fishing. Allan caught his first fish and Scott didn't have the camera handy. Allan was super excited! It was too small to keep though. He said Papa made it bleed and didn't put a band aid on it.
Before we left our house, I got Elena and Allan's baskets down from the closet. My daughter questioned why I was getting hers downs and informed me she wouldn't be needing it. She explained to me she was "too big" to hunt eggs. Of course, when it was time to hunt eggs, she asked if she could use Allan's basket. I reminded her of her own words. Lorrie, my sister-in-law, had a loaner.

The Star Athelete
Scott and I are extremely proud of Elena. Last week, she won first place at her track meet. She threw the furthest at the shot put. We took her to the restaurant of her choice, El Fenix, to celebrate. Today, was the district meet and she won 3rd out of 21 girls from seven different schools. Beauty, brains and an athelete!

Easter Bunny
Ricky (12): Mom, are you going to make Allan go visit the Easter Bunny when he is 13?
Brandon (10) & Elena (13): Yeah?
Mom: No
All three: Then why are you making us?
Mom: If you don't take a picture, then the Easter Bunny won't bring you anything.
Brandon: That's o.k. with me (hoping to for some followers).
Ricky and Elena both go silent.
